Postgame Quotes: Harrisburg 2, Revolution 1

Postgame quotes after the New England Revolution fell to the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-2) in U.S. Open Cup play.

Head Coach Steve Nicol

On the injury-riddled night…
“Well it could’ve gone worse… maybe more injured. (Kheli) Dube rolled his ankle, and Mike (Videira) has a thigh strain, and under the circumstances we can’t take any chances. If we let him (Videira) keep playing, he tears it, then he’s out for three months … and we have another game Saturday.”

On his team’s performance before and after Dube’s injury…
“They never got close to us until then, then they scored straight after that. So I don’t know what to tell you … (Kheli) Dube’s injury we could do nothing about, and (Michael) Videira’s we had no choice (but to sit him).”

Defender Chris Tierney

On the short-handed bench…
“We already were bare-bones coming here - 15 guys dressing for the game - so we’ve played so many games in a tough schedule, guys are struggling with knocks, and you just can’t take risks at this point. Guys that felt something tonight had to get out, there’s nothing we can do about it. So you just have to do your best and that’s it.”

On how they fared in even-strength play…
“I thought we actually played some really good stuff in the first half. We moved the ball well and we had tons of possession, but once you go down to nine men it’s always going to be difficult. That obviously showed.”

On what to take away from a busy stretch of games…
“It’s a lot of games, you just have to keep trucking through it and put the ones like tonight - the disappointing results - behind you, and just get ready for the next one. The good thing is we should be getting some guys back for LA this weekend and hopefully we’ll show a performance that we’re capable of.”
