Darrius Barnes upgraded, while Zak Boggs added to the list.
After training on Tuesday – the team’s only home training session before traveling to Salt Lake City for Friday night’s match against Real Salt Lake – the team’s athletic training staff issued the early-week injury list, with several changes following last weekend’s match.
NE Injury Report - June 29, 2010
QUESTIONABLE: Darrius Barnes (R ankle/foot sprain)
OUT: Zak Boggs (concussion), Preston Burpo (R leg fracture), Edgaras Jankauskas (L adductor strain), Steve Ralston (L elbow dislocation), Khano Smith (R ankle sprain), Taylor Twellman (concussion)
Most notably, Darrius Barnes has been upgraded to QUESTIONABLE after spending the last six weeks listed as OUT after suffering a foot and ankle injury on May 8 in Columbus. He was out at training on Tuesday, working with the team during the short session before doing some side work with the athletic training staff.
Also new this week is Zak Boggs’ addition to the OUT list after picking up a concussion. After Saturday night’s game, he was taken to a local hospital for observation and later released, and will miss this weekend’s match in Salt Lake. Edgaras Jankauskas continues to work on the side with the athletic training staff, while Khano Smith has made some progress in rehabbing his sprain right ankle, which he suffered in the Cruzeiro friendly on June 13. Steve Ralston has also been out at training to keep his fitness up while he’s out, working on footwork and agility exercises.
Preston Burpo also made his first appearance at Gillette Stadium on Sunday at the Chicago match, and has returned to the team after one month of rehab following his surgery on his leg. He will now begin working daily with the athletic training staff to continue more hands-on rehab.
