|NE Injury Report – July 27, 2010
The Revs head back into MLS play with a lighter injury list.
The New England Revolution athletic training staff released the early-week injury list following Tuesday morning’s training session, which was the squad’s first following a three-day break during the off weekend.
One new player has been added, while three have been upgraded and/or removed.
NE Injury Report - July 27, 2010
PROBABLE: Chris Tierney (rib contusion)
QUESTIONABLE: Nico Colaluca (R ankle sprain), Cory Gibbs (L quad strain), Jason Griffiths (L hamstring strain)
DOUBTFUL: Zak Boggs (concussion)
OUT: Preston Burpo (R leg surgery), Edgaras Jankauskas (L adductor strain), Taylor Twellman (concussion)
First, both Pat Phelan (head wound) and Khano Smith (R ankle sprain) were listed as PROBABLE in the team’s last report. Both players have been elevated off of the official injury list and are participating fully in all team activities.
The new addition is Chris Tierney, who has a rib contusion that he picked up in the Monarcas Morelia game last Tuesday when he collided in the air with Matt Reis. He is listed as PROBABLE, and his injury is not expected to impact his playing ability.
Joining Nico Colaluca and Cory Gibbs in the QUESTIONABLE is Jason Griffiths. While Colaluca continues to ease back into full participation, Gibbs and Griffiths have returned to full training with the team for the first time in at least two weeks while they’ve been rehabbing their respective muscle strains.
Zak Boggs, who remains DOUBTFUL, made his first appearance at training since suffering his concussion. He participated in the first part of training, but after missing almost one full month with effects from the concussion, he is easing himself back in slowly.
The same three players who have been populating the OUT category remain, with Preston Burpo and Taylor Twellman on the season-ending injury list, while Edgaras Jankauskas continues to work on his groin strain.
